The 5th years are currently thoroughly enjoying their ski trip in Italy.
Saturday was spent travelling a long but worthwhile journey. Spirits were high and the time flew as we took the trip from Cork to Dublin and from Dublin to Verona. From there, we commuted to our accommodation in the center of Madonna di Campiglio. Getting some rest before our first day on the slopes was then the priority.
Sunday started early before sunrise because everyone needed to be fitted with equipment. With skis and poles acquired, we embarked on the short journey to the nursery slopes to meet the instructors. Things started slowly for the beginners as they grappled with the most fundamental but important lesson; Learning how to stop. The lessons featured an intermission with a trip to the restaurant to fuel up. The evening concluded with servings of authentic carbonara in our hotel and a brief trip to the local shop.
Today, the skills amongst our party continued to drastically improve and most groups tackled a few blue slopes to test out their ‘pizzas’. After having the first day completed, commutes, routines and plans were much more seem-less which meant we made the most of our time out of the morning and afternoon. Some Italian Lasagne was on the menu for lunch.
Despite the chilly temperatures, there hasn’t been a cloud in sight so far which is a drastic change from the weather we are acclimatised to. So, sun cream is being applied generously.
Hopefully the rest of the week is as enjoyable as it has been so far!
